Hand Embroidery
I love all things painstaking and fiddly, and hand embroidery is certainly that. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind original artwork.
Tree Series: Ochre & Charcoal #1
This piece is half of a diptych, using one of my favourite colour combinations: ochre and charcoal. I worked the trees from the back to the front, layering leaves as I went.
Tree Series: Ochre & Charcoal #2
This piece is half of a diptych, using one of my favourite colour combinations: ochre and charcoal. I worked the trees from the back to the front, layering leaves as I went.
Lollipop Flowers Pillow
I wanted to make a sampler of lesser-used embroidery stitches, but I didn't want to make it in the traditional page-on-a-wall format. After completing the individual segments, my daughter was playing with the pieces and suggested they looked like lollipop flowers. Hence the name.
Arabian Nights
This piece is an 8" x 8" wall hanging, that was part of an ensemble installation with the Burlington Art in Action Studio Tour. It reminds me of geometric patterns you see in the Middle East, and with its colour-scheme, it had to be called Arabian Nights.
Ode to Bill #1
This pillow took a ridiculous amount of time, but I am so pleased with how it turned out. The backing fabric is a reproduction of a William Morris (hence the name) wallpaper. Every motif on the front is taken from the back. Think of it as the front is the bouquet, and the back is the garden.

Mandala: Enlighten
I love mandalas, and this one features a happy little Buddha and enlightening vibes.
Mandala: Brilliance
I love mandalas, and this one features a celestial body (sun? moon? star?) radiating outwards, with threads of silver, gold, and copper.
Mandala: Moonlight
I love mandalas, and this one features a happy moon, glowing iridescent threads and golden beads.
Mandala: Fiesta
I love mandalas, and this one's colours and patterns reminded me of a Mexican party - fiesta!
Mandala: Joy
I love mandalas, and this is one of my favourites. A smiling centre, and undulating iridescent waves, I find this to be very soothing and gently joyful.
